COOKWITHJAMMY/CHILLY GOBI RECIPE

Chilly gobi- Indo Chinese cuisine famous food, used as starter or side dish. Prepared in dry or gravy form, I am going to prepare chilly gobi gravy. I used chilly powder as substitute to chilly sauce. Love to enjoy this  dish during rainy day or when i am suffering from cold and fever. It can be served as side dish for chappati, fried rice or noodles.

INGREDIENTS
MARINATION
  1. Cauliflower florets- 2 cups
  2. Maida- 1/2 cup
  3. Corn flour- 1/4 cup
  4. Pepper- 1 tsp
  5. Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
  6. Salt- 1/2 tsp
OTHER INGREDIENTS
  1. Garlic chopped- 1 tbsp
  2. Onion- 1 no:
  3. Capsicum- 1 no:
  4. Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
  5. Soya sauce- 1 tsp
  6. Tomato ketchup- 4-5 tbsp
  7. Chilly powder- 1 tsp
  8. Green chilly- 1 no:
  9. Corn flour- 1 tbsp
  10. Sugar- a pinch
  11. Salt as required

INSTRUCTIONS
  • For cleaning, boil some water and switch off the flame. Put the cauliflower florets into it and after 5 minutes remove these florets.

  • For marnation take maida, corn flour, crushed pepper and salt. Mix them with spoon. Add water and make a batter which is not too thick or thin. Now put the florets in this and mix them with spoon. Batter
  • In a pan heat some oil and  fry cauliflower florets in medium flame until both sides becomes brown in colour. Keep them aside in a bowl.Put the florets one by one for frying. FryingCauliflower fry
  • In another pan heat oil. Add chopped garlic,slit green chilly and saute for a minute. Add chopped onion (diced into small square) and saute until it is soft. Add capsicum and saute for a minute. Capsicum
  • Add soya sauce, tomato ketchup, chilly powder, salt and sugar. Give it a nice mix. Sauce
  • Add required amount of water for gravy. I have added about 1 cup of water. Mix corn flour in 1/4 cup water and add this slurry to the gravy, cook in medium flame. Turn off the flame when gravy becomes light thick in consistency, if needed add salt. Tasty chilly gobi gravy is ready to serve. Chilly gobi gravy
TIPS
  • To avoid sticking, put one by one florets for frying. 
  • If you need colour,  you can add red food colour or Kashmiri chilly powder. 
  • For garnishing you can use spring onions.
