Tomato rice is usually made by South indians, nowadays it is prepared in many parts of the country. In tamil we call it as thakkali sadam. Whenever we need a different taste, we can try this recipe. It is mix of tomato,onion and spices, we can use tomato puree or chopped tomatoes. It can be prepared by using any kind of rice like sona masoori, basmati rice.Here I had used sona masoori rice. It goes very well with any kind of pickle, papads. It is a simple, tasty and time saving dish.

- Bay leaf-1
- Cinnamon stick-1
- Elachi-2
- Cloves-2
- Fennel seeds-1 tsp
- Chilly powder-1 tbsp
- Coriander powder-1/2 tbsp
- Garam masala powder-1tsp
- Turmeric powder-1tsp
- Cumin seeds -1tsp
- Rice-1 cup
- Tomato-2 medium size
- Onion-1 medium size
- Coriander leaves
- Salt as required
- Ghee-1 tbsp

- After pressure comes, cook them in low flame for about 1 whistle.Tasty tomato rice is ready to serve.
Use ripe tomatoes for best result.
